This isnt meant to depress you, it's merely a way of showing you how valuable your "actual Free time" is.
Working isnt the only thing that takes up your time. There are only so many hours in a day and much of it is spent doing two things. Working and sleeping.
Let's break down a week and see what we end up with as far as "actual free time" is concerned.
OK, there are 7 days in a week and 24 hours in a day (unless you talk to the Beatles who continue to insist that there are 8 days in a week)
That equals 168 hours in a week.
Let's say you work 40 hours a week.
Sleep 7 hours a night X 7 days = 49 hours
168-89= 79 hours
Over half of your week is spent working or sleeping and that's if you only work 40 hours a week
Add in your daily commute X5
Say that's 30 mintes (15 each way) that's anopther 2.5 hours a week.
How about looking at it like this.
If you work 8 hours a day and sleep 7 hours a night 62.5 % of you time on those days is spent doing those two things.
Lets add in 30 minutes a day to shower, shave, brush your choppers and do get dressed for work
Between that and your commute, your down to 8 hours of time to do other things on your work days.
You have to add in shopping, cooking, cleaning, going to the bathroom, paying bills, laundry, haircuts, working out whatever it is that you do and you will find that the time just dwindles down pretty fast.
But then again, on those two days off (if you get two) the base stars at sleeep. 7 hours of sleep for two days = 14 hours. Out of 48 hours that leaves 34 hours for everything else. That's almost as much time as you put in at the office if you work a 40 hour week.
Doesnt seem like such a bad tradeoff afterall.
Even if you use 10 hours of that for responsablities and things you have to do, that still leaves 24 hours for whatever you want to do.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....
What's the point?
Simple.
If you work to live, you can live almost as much as you work. Probably moreso.
Doesnt matter what you do with your freetime, it's YOUR FREETIME! You choose to do what you want to do.
Do your own thang!
Remember, you worked all week to get to that freetime and you deserve to spend at least part of it doing something that makes you feel good. Even if it's just kickin back and chillin!
If you live to wrok, those freetime hours will still feel like work because that will be all you think about.
If you work to live, you understand that you work all week to be able to handle your responsabilities and to hopefully be able to enjoy that freetime away from work.
Your paycheck isnt your only reward, your freetime is a reward as well.
I will now stand down from my soapbox!
